Council To Hear Final Reading Monday Of Ordinance Calling For Bond Election

At Monday night’s meeting, West U. City Council will hear the second and final reading of the ordinance calling for a Nov. 4 bond election. The first reading passed 4-1, with Councilman Michael Talianchich voting against the $13.8 million bond for the renovations of Colonial Park, West U. Recreation Center, the Community Center and the Senior Services Center.

Council will meet at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 11 in the Municipal Building, 3800 University Blvd. The regular meeting will convene to a special meeting at 5:40 p.m. in the conference room. The special meeting agenda includes discussion of a proposed geriatric consultant position and discussion of possible further restrictions on smoking in the city.

The regular session will reconvene at 6:30 p.m. in Council Chambers. The agenda includes possible action on zoning ordinances relating to driveways, parking, garages and maneuvering areas.

Council will also consider approving a Sept. 8 public hearing for ordinances relating to variances and special exceptions.

Finance Director Walter Thomas will present the 2007 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report.
